My friend hit the nail on the head when he said that the Chocolate de Batirol by Everybody's Cafe tastes like Christmas.
The day was May 2, 2010. It was lunch time and my friends Rollyn and Mark, true to their word, brought us to Everybody's Cafe in Angeles City, Pampanga (near Nepo Mall). I had been looking forward to trying the Chocolate de Batirol, so right after I finished my meal, I called the waitress to order a cup. I was told that the Chocolate de Batirol is prepared only upon order and I was forewarned by the waitress that I had to wait 20 minutes to get it. Unfazed by the warning, I agreed to wait.
While my 20 minutes ran its course, I sneaked a peek over the counter of the cafe as one of the staff set out to hand-craft my hot chocolate. The process is started by bringing out the traditional tsokolatera, a brass-colored metal carafe created particularly to make the perfect cup of hot chocolate. The tablea (native chocolate tablets) and hot milk are then combined in the tsokolatera and whisked together with the batirol (it looks a lot like a wooden honey dipper). What results is an utterly rich and frothy hot chocolate drink. Needless to say, it was worth the wait.
Arguably the best hot chocolate I've ever had.
Aside from the divine Chocolate de Batirol, Everybody's Cafe is wildly famous for serving authentic Capampangan cuisine at very reasonable prices.
